Our first trip to the eye doctor...

I am very familiar with eye exams :)... the last time I was there (end of last year) my eye doctor told me, "Next time the DMV wants you to take the vision test... make sure you take your time with your right eye because you probably wont pass...) NOW, I can totally drive... I have a good eye... but, apparently, if you fail with one eye, they make you go to your eye doctor and get a note saying you can see and it just makes it a pain....

I have a lazy eye! Even with contacts on, I cant see very well with my right eye. He told me this is hereditary and that I should bring my kids in for an eye exam. I told him the ages of my kids and he said kids that have parents with poor eyes like me should bring them in once they are 3years old. We have GREAT eye insurance (with my eye sight, you have too) so I said... why not.

So I brought Haley and Hunt in today for an exam... BRAG MOMENT: They usually use pictures for kids, however my kids were more interested in the letters, so he used letters :) ... Haley passed with flying colors (of course).

HUNTER... They first tested him and he passed... then they had him cover his right eye - testing his left. He passed... NO PROBLEM. Then they covered his left eye - testing the right. He couldn't see the board. He hit the ladies arm to move the block on his left eye, "I cant see, move" he says to the lady. Nice proud mom moment.

The doctor said, "I dont like to give 3 year olds glasses... I really dont." so he did MORE tests... dilated his eyes even... After many tests.... he decided it was in our and Hunter's best interest to have him wear glasses. He said that it looks like his eye is turning in and the glasses will only make his eye stronger. He inherited mom's lazy eye :(.

It broke my heart... When I called Jim to tell him... I felt so guilty and bad!!! I think the doctor did too because he came out and helped Hunter pick his glasses.... They had a poor selection (the doctor said that)... I wanted some cool, hip glasses like his uncle scoby... but they were too small for Hunts head :(... He ended up with the pair below....

The girls in the office thought Hunter was so cute... they compared him to the Jerry McGuire kid... :)

Any tips on keeping glasses on a 3 eyar old?

Why everyone should use gmail...

I love gmail... I just learned (thanks jane) how to subscribe to blogs... now when ever people update their blog, I get it sent to me! It was so easy... SO I am now taking my links off :). I have subscribed to all the links of my friends and then some :).... SO FUN!!!

The other reasons I love gmail....

ITS NOT GOUT!

Ok, so I accidentally told people my mom had gout... but really it was a bunion (sp?). She had surgery last Thursday! The above picture is Jonah with his Poppa waiting in the waiting room.
This is Nana hours after her surgery recovering at home. She is doing well... in a lot of pain (just hearing what they did to her foot made me want to go home and take pain killers).

My funny son!

Each day the kids have quiet time in their rooms... one day I walked in to find hunter no where. I knew he was in his room but I didn't see him right away...
Then I noticed the lump on his b ed under his gator... he did that to himself and fell asleep... Funny dude!

Haley's first sleep over... and Hunter's interesting sleeping ways!

This Saturday Haley had her first friend spend the night... Isabel! All three, Hunter included... played so well!!! Right before bed, I had to hand out my children's meds... and Isabel must have felt left out because she begins to tell me she takes meds before bed... she then proceeds to fake cough... so I whipped out smarties (the candy) and gave her two "medicines".... right after she smiles big and tells me, "thanks... I feel so much better" Kids are cute!
Last night... this is what I found when I went to check in on Hunter before I went to bed... This is typical too! This is how he sleeps!!!

Happy 18th Jasen!

January 5, was my cousin Jasen's birthday! The hat jimmy is wear is a special hat Haley made me for Christmas :) It just fit Jim's head better :)
Us, poorly singing happy birthday! Lets just say, we wont be making any CD's anytime soon.

what we did...

We didn't do much this Christmas break. We were mostly sick the ENTIRE break... The above picture (which is hard to see) is us doing "school." BOTH haley and hunter wanted to do "school" with mom. SOmetimes we had a visitor to our "school", Grace from across the street.

Right before the sickness hit our family, we were able to get one hangout accomplished! Kelly and Jenn both drove in to town and we had a "small" play date at our house... I say small because it was a small amount of moms... and a TON of kids....
The older kids... Haley and Logan both 5 years old (two weeks apart, if that)
The three year olds... Nate, Grant, Jake and HunterAnd the babies... Zach, Luke, Jonah, and Drew.

Haley's tree protest.... Steve's B-day... Hunter and his ears

Haley was VERY upset when we took down our Christmas tree.... She stood in front of it like this and yelled NO. It doesn't help that the tree was dieing so we had to take it down sooner then later. In a compromise, I put the Christmas tree lights up around the inside of our living room. She loves them!
Hunter and his Thomas the Train friend. As soon as Hunter found out that Deron knew the different trains from back when he was young, Hunter now has a train buddy!!! It is really cute :).
My Uncle Steve's birthday is New Years Eve. Above is a picture of him with his older brother (my dad, Ken) and his mom (my grandma). This is before she went into the hospital with congestive heart failure.
Cousins!
Huntman had to go to the Urgent Care. He has two really bad ear infections.... AGAIN. :( This time they talked about tubes. At the urgent care, he had to bring Bill and Ben (Thomas trains of course) and had them sit on the table with him while he waited for the doctor... cute huh? Seriously, this is my son, day in and day out... THOMAS! They watch him eat all his meals... in fact, as I am typing this, he is replaying an episode of one of his Thomas movies on his train table. He doesn't watch the show much... I really try to limit that... but he does memorize them and replay them on his train table.
